1:1 Outreach learning support assistant

About the Role\n\nVision for Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Outreach Learning Support Assistant to provide personalised educational and pastoral support to students across Colchester and the surrounding areas who are unable to access mainstream education settings.\n\nWorking on a one-to-one basis, you will support learners in community venues, alternative provisions, and home environments, helping them to engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve their individual goals.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDeliver tailored one-to-one learning support in line with individual education plans.\nBuild positive and professional relationships with students, families, schools, and external agencies.\nSupport students with academic work, social development, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in learning.\nAdapt learning activities to meet the individual needs and abilities of each student.\nMonitor and record student progress, attendance, and engagement.\nPromote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive behaviour at all times.\nLiaise regularly with schools, teachers, and other professionals to ensure effective support and communication.\nTravel throughout Colchester and the surrounding areas to provide outreach support as required.\n\nRequirements\n\nPrevious experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, SEND, alternative provision, or support settings.\nStrong communication and relationship-building skills.\nAbility to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.\nUnderstanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.\nA patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to supporting learners.\nFull UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.\nBusiness-use motor insurance is essential, as travel forms a key part of the role.\nEnhanced DBS check on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.\n\nWhat We Offer\n\nCompetitive rates of pay.\nFlexible working opportunities.\nOngoing professional development and training.\nDedicated support from Vision for Education.\nThe opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people.\nMileage expenses reimbursed for all work-related travel in accordance with company policy.\n\nSafeguarding\n\nVision for Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
